EMU & KANGAROO TRACKS Aboriginal Design Recycled Runner, Burgundy & White
0.9 x 2.7m
Emu & Kangaroo Tracks is an Australian design recycled runner, in rich burgundy red and white. It’s great for use in the home, office or classroom as a talking point décor feature or a handy multicultural teaching tool.
It was designed by accomplished Australian Aboriginal artist De Greer Yindimincarlie, of the Wiradjuri Nation in central New South Wales, using many different Aboriginal figures. The image represents three campsites, with emu tracks heading west, and kangaroo tracks running east. The centre campsite is surrounded by women, whilst the other campsites are attended by warriors.
Like all of the classroom resources we stock at Recycled Mats, this runner provides a practical introduction to Indigenous symbolism in art and opens us up to the world of storytelling through pictures. Consider using it in conjunction with other mat sets, or tools such as The Little Black Game Pack (designed by the same artist) to extend learning in areas such as culture, nature, family life or art.
In the home, these mats are a lovely way to connect with your own culture or celebrate cultural diversity as you read, eat or play on the rug. This innovative material is soft and comfortable for sitting and walking on, but also tough enough for indoor or outdoor use. The striking colours ensure it’s an eye-catching addition to any library, community centre or office foyer.
Like all our recycled mats, Emu & Kangaroo Tracks is hard-wearing and easy to clean – wipe away dirt and dust, or hose it off and dry it in the shade. Made from 95% recycled plastics, it is light enough to carry or fold up for transport or storage, so you can move it from ‘home corner’ to ‘story corner’ or even outside for a picnic lunch.
These unique, stylish runners make diversity education easy at home or at school. The Emu & Kangaroo Tracks Aboriginal design recycled mat in vibrant red and white can be enjoyed as a camping mat, play mat or anywhere you want to bring people together.
