EMU & KANGAROO TRACKS Aboriginal Design Recycled Runner, Orange & Black
0.9 x 2.7m
Emu & Kangaroo Tracks is an Australian design recycled runner, in rich, earthy orange and black. It’s great for use in the home, office or classroom as a talking point décor feature or a handy multicultural teaching tool.
It was designed by accomplished Australian Aboriginal artist De Greer Yindimincarlie, of the Wiradjuri Nation in central New South Wales, using many different Aboriginal figures. The image represents three campsites, with emu tracks heading west and kangaroo tracks running east. The centre campsite is surrounded by women, whilst the other campsites are attended by warriors.
As a classroom resource, this runner provides a practical introduction to Indigenous symbolism in art and opens us up to the world of storytelling through pictures. Consider using it in conjunction with other mat sets, or resources such as The Little Black Game Pack (designed by the same artist) to extend learning in areas such as culture, nature, family life or art.
In the home, these mats are a lovely way to connect with your own culture or celebrate cultural diversity as you read, eat or play on the rug. This innovative material is soft and comfortable for sitting and walking on, but also tough enough for indoor or outdoor use. The striking colours ensure it’s an eye-catching addition to any library, community centre or office foyer.
Like all our recycled plastic cultural mats, Emu & Kangaroo Tracks is hard-wearing and easy to clean – wipe away dirt and dust, or hose it off and dry it in the shade. Made from 95% recycled plastics, it is light enough to carry or fold up for transport or storage, so you can move it from ‘home corner’ to ‘story corner’ or even outside for a picnic lunch.
These unique, stylish runners make diversity education easy at home or at school. The Emu & Kangaroo Tracks Aboriginal design recycled mat in vibrant black and orange can be enjoyed as a camping mat, play mat or anywhere you want to bring people together.

ExcellentBy: Maeve on 27 December 2016Ordered this mat for my mum for Christmas. Quick and easy to use the website, fast delivery and an excellent product. Mum loved it!
Perfect for Playgroup27 September 2016We have a couple of these mats, and they are just amazing! They put up with lots of little kids and handle anything that comes along (food, drinks, rough and tumble play, and kids just being kids!). They just continue to look great and are so easy to clean. I highly recommend them!
Heavy Traffic areasBy: Colleen McBride on 26 September 2016Our emu and kangaroo tracks mat in black and orange always gets commented on, by our library patrons. Wether in front of the circulation counter or with the numerous kids on the ipads, hard wearing and still looking like new after years of hard traffic. Dirt washes off with a hose and the mat looks like new again.
MultipurposeBy: Emma on 2 September 2016I have it it green and I have used it EVERYWHERE! Hall runner, in front of sliding door, under kitchen bench/breakfast bar, front of tent, shoe/sand mat, under camper van, picnic rug, beach mat, Friday night drinks on lawn mat, at soccer with the boys, at netball, at music festivals, too easy to clean, too easy to take ANYWHERE ❤️
