ROO HUNT Aboriginal Design Recycled Mat, Burgundy & White
The Roo Hunt Aboriginal design recycled mat in rich burgundy and white symbolically presents the relationship between hunter and food. Kangaroo meat has been eaten for thousands of years and traditional hunting practices focused on the sustainability of the animal mob through respectful interaction with the environment.
Aboriginal artist Wallamarra Elliot, from Wiradjuri country, central New South Wales, created the Roo Hunt design. It reminds us of the importance of the cycle of life. The notion of harmony and balance is often forgotten in contemporary, mass production of food. Traditional hunting worked with the seasons and considered ‘mother nature’.
The Perfect Classroom Mats
The large, round shape of this mat and the lively, reversible colour scheme makes it ideal as a classroom floor covering. Use it to gather students at group time to talk about animals, the environment and Indigenous symbols in art.
The striking colours and provocative subject matter will also make Roo Hunt a talking point in any home, office or community centre. Use it as a library story mat or meeting place at your outdoor sports event.
Made from 95% recycled plastics, including plastic shopping bags, Roo Hunt is easy to keep clean. Sand or food spills wipe away with ease. These mats can also be hosed down for heavier soiling, making them handy as arts and crafts mats for kindies. They're also popular as caravan mats, handy for indoor or outdoor use while travelling.
Celebrate cultural diversity with a bold mat design. Roo Hunt Aboriginal design recycled mats in striking burgundy and white are available for order online, with delivery Australia-wide.
