If you love monochrome designs and culture, this 'Gatherings' mat is the design for you, and provides a place to do exactly as its name suggests - 'gather'

Stylish, but with more meaning and story than any contemporary design, this mat was designed by respected Australian Aboriginal artist De Greer Yindimincarlie, of the Wiradjuri Nation in central New South Wales.

This reversible indoor/outdoor rug features many different Aboriginal symbols. At this particular gathering, you’ll find men sitting around campfires, women talking at campsites, digging tools, spears, boomerangs and coolamons.  It's the perfect indoor mat for anyone who loves Aboriginal art, a modern take on a million of years old culture.

Like all our recycled outdoor mats, 'Gatherings' is soft and comfortable, yet hard-wearing and easy to clean, making it ideal for high-traffic areas, but also messy play, picnics and days at the beach. Loose dirt just shakes off, or it can be hosed down for muckier uses! As one of our more compact mat designs, it is lightweight for folding or transporting, so it’s easily moved from a story corner to a shady spot for lunch.

Being reversible, this design gives you two looks for the price of one, and also extends the life of your mat. Many educators choose these cultural mats in conjunction our Aboriginal cushion covers to inject some more colour, culture and comfort. Click here for an interesting read about teaching Aboriginal culture in primary school.

With one of these mats under your arm, you'll never be lost for a soft spot to sit again.

We're now exploring how we can 're-recycle' your unwanted mats! Our exciting initiative for re-purposing and re-using them is a must-read.
