Reconciliation encourages people to gather. This cultural mat is large enough for groups of friends or family to enjoy a yarn.
Aboriginal artist Angela Marr-Grogan is passionate about reconciliation within Australia to encourage stronger relationships and healing between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community.
Angela draws inspiration from her identity as a Birrbay woman with connections to the Dhanggatti and Warrimay people on NSW mid-north coast. Every Aboriginal mat commissioned by Recycled Mats is developed in close consultation with communities and features images that are culturally-appropriate for sharing.
"As an Aboriginal artist, I am inspired and driven by the depth of Aboriginal culture and my place within it,” says Marr-Grogan. With this in mind, she has used inner and outer concentric circles to represent community and organisations, whilst layered dot work symbolises people coming together to improve and build closer relationships."
The result is a meaningful, contemporary design equally at home in a hotel foyer or school library. Like all the sturdy indoor and outdoor rugs on offer at Recycled Mats, Reconciliation is perfect as a camping floor, caravan mat or picnic mat - the choice is yours.
Made from 95% recycled materials, the Reconciliation mat is not only great for celebrating cultural diversity – it’s also great for our earth. The innovative recycled plastics we use to create our mats are easy to clean, comfortable to sit on and UV treated to resist colour fading.
Bring a diverse conversation to your next gathering with a Reconciliation cultural mat. Reconciliation Aboriginal mats in black, brown and white with a large, bold and unique Indigenous motif, provide perfect indoor or outdoor ground cover for any occasion.
Please note that the purchase of this mat includes a carry bag.
