Introducing our first Maori design beanbag, Whaka Whenua, which translates loosely to 'grounding'.
The story of Whaka Whenua is related to the idea of creating a strong interwoven community at our place of belonging, Mother Earth, or Papatuuaanuku. Whenua are the strands of fibre woven into the mats where community gatherings take place. The bold red colour of this Maori design relates to the red clay of Kurawaka where the first human being was created, a woman named Hine-Ahu-One, the Earth-formed Maiden.
This value pack of five 1m x 1m square beanbags, plus ONE EXTRA BEANBAG FOR FREE, is a must-have for classrooms or schools needing a few to scatter around their library or classroom.
These divine beanbags, made from polyester/cotton canvas, are a talking piece indoors in lounge rooms, family rooms and children's rooms.

You can also take them outside, to enjoy lazy days on the grass in the sunlight and for picnics with friends and family.
Soft beanbags are a step up from outdoor cushions. Their size alone doubles the comfort rating! Giant bean bags make comfy seating for more than one too. Take them along to your favourite festival, event or outdoor musical treat.
Pop three or four together and you've got an instant day bed.
Pair these bean bags with one of our Maori designed recycled plastic mat, and you have all your floor seating requirements covered. Bring them into childcare centres and schools to meet cultural inclusion program targets too.

How to Fill Beanbags with Sustainable Stuffing
Fill the bean bags with your choice of recyclable materials - scrunched up newspaper, old washed and clean clothing or clean rags.
The trick we love is to stuff the bean bag case with a bunch of your kid's soft toys - the ones that are no longer in use and need a new purpose.
Cleaning and maintenance are easy too - spot clean the beanbag with a slightly damp cloth, or throw it (sans filling) into the wash on a gentle cycle. Hang it on the line to dry.

50% Polyester 50% Cotton Canvas (non-recycled)
We are always working to find the best recycled fabric options and hope to find a recycled canvas fabric soon.
The bean bag outer cover and the inner lining are made from 100% Polyester. Suitable for use both indoors and out, although fabric is not waterproof so please store them indoors or out of the weather when not in use. To spot clean, wipe down with a damp cloth. Beanbag covers are suitable to be handwashed or are machine washable on a gentle cycle - please remove stuffing before washing. You may use a warm iron on reverse side. Do not tumble dry. Wash with similar colours as colours of the beanbag may run.
