Our new POD CHAIRS designed by Zac Bennet-Brook are our most innovative, exciting product yet!
Recycled Mats is proud to bring you a range of totally unique pod chairs in a divine array of original cultural motifs. The Coming Together design is created by celebrated Australian Indigenous artist Zachary Bennett-Brook, who celebrates the sea with dramatic shades of blue and gold.
Zac is a proud Torres Strait Islander man, born and raised in Dharawal Country, Wollongong, on the south coast of NSW. He has a strong connection to the ocean, as a surfer and saltwater man. Zac is the founder and principal artist/designer at Saltwater Dreamtime, where he specialises in surfboard design and collaborative projects.
The Coming Together design celebrates unity, which is perfect for these gorgeous chairs that encourage comfort and conversation. Like charming cocoons, these chairs are packed with recycled polyfibre filling and covered with 100% cotton canvas fabric.
The look combines the laid-back vibe of a beanbag with the designer flair of a vintage occasional chair. Kick back with a book, snuggle up with the kids or relax with friends, bohemian style!
Pair your chic boho chair with a luxe Indian design chindi rug for a rustic look, or create a multicultural décor theme by mixing and matching cushion covers and fab contemporary floor mats. Your pod cocoon chair is guaranteed to be a talking point in any living room, classroom or chill out space.
Dr Nicole Grant, a paediatric occupational therapist, recently reviewed our pod chairs. She recommended these innovative egg-style seats for homes, preschools, kindergartens, schools or libraries – anywhere that children could benefit from a personal space to retreat into when they’re overstimulated.
For children on the autism spectrum, a pod chair can work in a similar way to a weighted blanket, offering a cosy, secure, supportive sitting space. It’s like getting a hug while you read or relax!
“Pods can be used as a support tool to help manage behaviour, mood swings, and the challenges of sibling rivalry,” says Nicole.
All this from one amazing and beautiful pod cocoon chair!
