Angela Marr-Grogan is an Australian Indigenous artist, passionate about reconciliation and building strong relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community. She created Reconciliation to encourage people to gather on floor mats to enjoy a yarn or share food. At 3m diameter, these mats are large enough for any family picnic, campsite or kindy room.

"As an Aboriginal artist, I am inspired and driven by the depth of Aboriginal culture and my place within it,” says Marr-Grogan. She has used inner and outer concentric circles to represent community and organisations, whilst layered dot work symbolises people coming together to improve and build closer relationships.
Angela draws inspiration from her identity as a Birpai/Biripi woman, with connections to the Dunghutti and Worimi people on the NSW mid-north coast. Every Aboriginal mat commissioned by Recycled Mats is developed in close consultation with communities and features images that are culturally-appropriate for sharing.
Made from 95% recycled materials, the Reconciliation mat is not only great for celebrating cultural diversity – it’s also great for our earth. The innovative recycled plastics we use to create our mats is easy to clean, comfortable to sit on and UV treated to resist colour fading. Reconciliation mats are also available to purchase individually and in a smaller 2.4m floor rug.
Bring a new cultural conversation into your classroom – or a talking point floor rug into your shopfront. Choose Reconciliation Aboriginal design mats in this economical set of 5. Perfect indoor or outdoor ground cover for any occasion!

Fantastic mats!!By: Felicia Cheah on 23 March 2017These mats were fabulous. We have used them both indoors and outdoors with groups of children. The design is aesthetically pleasing. We are also using it as a tool for introducing the children to Aboriginal art. The mats can be used both sides and very easy to clean.
A place to gather and sitBy: Shannon Finnigan, Educator on 10 February 2017The reconciliation mat is a place that calls to the children to come to play and explore, a place to gather and sit, a place to stop and rest on a hot day. It represents culture, respect for our people and tells a story of a meeting place. It fits into our natural environment and encompasses our values and beliefs on sustainability as it is made from recycled materials. It represents community and family.
We just love it!By: Judy Radich, Nominated Supervisor, Cooloon Ch on 10 February 2017The circle "Reconciliation" mat is the perfect addition to our natural environment. It complements and enhances the aesthetically pleasing area. The print and patterns gives us opportunities to talk about Aboriginal culture and art every time we use it. It is a natural and everyday springboard for learning. It has 16 circles around the edge that are perfect for educators to play formal games when children need their own space. The circle shape naturally promotes a sense of belonging and inclusion. We just love it!
