RECONCILIATION Aboriginal Design Recycled Mat, Black, Brown & White
Reconciliation is about bringing people together, something Aboriginal artist Angela Marr-Grogan is passionate about. This stylish but meaningful Aboriginal mat comes in our ‘medium’ size - small enough for easy storage, but big on encouraging friends or family to gather for a yarn.
Marr-Grogan uses art to motivate stronger ties between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community. In Reconciliation, concentric circles symbolise community and organisations, whilst layered dot work represents people coming together to improve and build closer relationships.
Each of the Indigenous mats commissioned by Recycled Mats features images that are culturally-appropriate for sharing, sitting on or walking over. Angela draws inspiration from her identity as a Birpai/Biripi woman, with connections to the Dunghutti and Worimi people on the NSW mid north coast, and this design was developed with those affiliations in mind.
The Reconciliation mat is created using 95% recycled plastics, making it easy to clean, hard wearing and fade resistant. Celebrate cultural diversity while you enjoy your indoor story mat or outdoor camping rug from Recycled Mats. The Reconciliation design is popular as a group time mat for kindies and schools, helping children learn to sit in a circle to listen and share. Or pair it with a handy beach shelter for a relaxing day at the beach!
Reconciliation Aboriginal mats in black, brown and white are large enough to enjoy with friends, but small enough for easy cleaning and transporting. Choose an authentic, stylish Indigenous design for your home, office or classroom today!
