Symbolism, storytelling and interactive play are powerful ways to support learning in schools, childcare centres and community spaces. Educational mats create engaging environments where children can build confidence while developing important literacy, numeracy and social skills.

Our collection of educational outdoor mats features bright, durable designs that encourage learning through play. From numbers, letters, colours and shapes to symbols and interactive games, these mats help transform playgrounds, classrooms and outdoor learning areas into exciting educational spaces.

Whether you are teaching basic counting skills, introducing the alphabet, exploring native Australian flora and fauna or celebrating Aboriginal and Māori culture, our educational mats provide a fun and meaningful way for children to learn, connect and explore.

Designed for schools, early learning centres, community groups and public spaces, these outdoor educational mats are built to withstand heavy use while creating safe, vibrant and inspiring learning environments.

Choosing size and shape

Measure the space and allow room around the mat for children and educators to move. Then choose a shape and size that suits the activity and group. The collection includes rectangle, round and square shapes, with sizes such as 1.8m x 1.8m, 2.7m x 2.7m, 3m x 3m and 6m x 2.4m.

Compare those dimensions with your intended seating, reading or outdoor learning area. If you're unsure, we're here to help with sizing suggestions.

Care and stability

For our recycled-plastic mats, shake or vacuum off light dust and dirt. For tougher marks, gently scrub with a soft broom and warm water, rinse with a hose and dry naturally. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners and high-pressure washers.

On smooth floors, use a suitable non-slip underlay beneath the mat. Follow the individual product's care and placement instructions. Check the individual product's care instructions before use.

For example, the Yarning Circle Mat 2.7m x 2.7m has no eyelets; matting clips can be purchased separately. Its care instructions recommend non-slip mesh on slippery surfaces. See our mat care steps for more detail.
