Materials and outdoor practicality

Our Aboriginal outdoor mats in the recycled-plastic range are woven from UV-treated recycled polypropylene for indoor and outdoor use. They are lightweight, reversible and mould-resistant.

Shake or sweep away dirt, or rinse with a hose, then allow the mat to dry naturally. Avoid harsh chemicals, constant direct sunlight and prolonged moisture.

Choosing shape, size and format

The Aboriginal range includes rectangle, round and square shapes. Measure your space first, including the awning length for caravans or full setup length for camper trailers. Use the Shape and Size filters to compare dimensions with your layout.

For example, the 3.6m round Celebration suits outdoor circle time, while the 2.7m x 2.7m Yarning Circle supports storytelling and group activities. Celebration and Yarning Circle are reversible, giving you a different colour combination on each side.

How designs are approved with artists

We collaborate with local Aboriginal artists to develop genuine Indigenous artworks for mats, and the artists are fairly remunerated for their work. Collaborative designs are vetted by the artist for end uses such as sitting and walking over. Both the artist and Recycled Mats HQ sign off before sampling and production.

Artists we work with include De Greer-Yindimincarlie of the Wiradjuri Nation and Christine Slabb, a Bundjalung-Yugambeh woman. Meet the artists to explore their individual stories.

Shipping is calculated at checkout by weight, dimensions and destination. Once your order is dispatched, you receive a tracking link to follow its progress.
