How to choose the right size and shape
Start with a tape measure. Knowing the exact dimensions of the space you want to cover is the quickest way to land on a mat that fits, whether that space is a patio, a deck, a gazebo or the ground beside your van.
Next, decide what the mat actually has to do. Think about the area you want to define, how many people you would like to seat on it, and which furniture will sit on top. A useful general rule for an outdoor dining setting is to choose dimensions that keep the table and all the chairs on the mat even when the chairs are pulled out.
Caravanning or camping? For a caravan, measure the length of your awning. For a camper trailer, measure the whole setup length. Some travellers like the mat to sit neatly under the awning, while others prefer a little overhang for extra living space.
Then think about shape. The range currently includes rectangle, round and square shapes, so you can match the mat to the way your space is laid out. You can browse by shape and size or follow our 3-step guide to choosing a mat.

Caring for your mat
Cleaning and drying
Day to day, a shake or a sweep is usually all it takes. For heavier soiling, rinse the mat with a hose. If dirt has worked its way into the weave, brush it out gently with warm water and a soft broom.
Please avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners and high-pressure washers, as they can damage the fibres. Then let the mat dry naturally, either lying flat or hanging over a fence or washing line, ideally in the shade.
Placement, storage and a few cautions
On smooth surfaces such as tiles or timber, use a non-slip underlay beneath the mat, or anchor the corners under furniture, to help keep it securely in place.
When furniture sits on the mat, check the legs are wide enough not to dig into the weave, and lift furniture rather than dragging it across the surface.
An unexpected downpour is nothing to worry about, but constant direct sunlight and prolonged moisture can shorten the life of any mat. If yours gets a proper soaking, hang it up to dry, and where you can, give it a shaded spot rather than all-day sun.
To store your mat, fold it along the original fold lines and keep it somewhere dry and out of direct sunlight. Keep heavy objects off it while it is folded away, as they can leave permanent dents.
