Help support clean oceans with this new recycled plastic mat inspired by whale sharks
We've collaborated with the amazing, environmentally sustainable Western Australian lifestyle brand Ningaloo Swimwear to bring this beautiful whale shark pattern in blues to life in a recycled outdoor rug. Ningaloo is an Aboriginal name meaning "high land off deep water" and the inspiration for the design has been drawn from the crystalline deepwater Ningaloo Reef in the Indian Ocean.
This reef is a World Heritage-listed part of the north Western Australian Coast. It is home to over 500 species of tropical fish and one of the few places where the largest fish on the planet, the whale shark, visits every year. These gentle giants travel through the Ningaloo Reef in large groups between March and August.
To help secure the conservation of the reef and the incredible animals that inhabit it throughout the year, youth are being educated through programs that are run across the Ningaloo area. These initiatives to keep our oceans healthy are important to us, which is why our collaboration with Ningaloo Swimwear promotes the recycling of plastic. Recycling plastic into new life prevents it from entering our precious waterways and helps preserve aquatic ecosystems, like the Ningaloo Reef. This new mat is made with our innovative recycled plastic created from repurposed polypropylene, allowing you the opportunity to shop sustainably.
We also donate 10% of each mat sold to ECOCEAN - a globally recognised, not-for-profit organisation founded by biologist Brad Norman. It is based in Western Australia and works towards scientific research, education, and conservation of the threatened whale shark species and its marine environment.
The Ningaloo makes for the ideal outdoor mat for picnics, camping trips, and the beach as it is waterproof, soft and comfortable to walk or sit on and is treated with UV protection to resist fading.
Pair this unique design with some of our cushion covers to create a cosy coastal setting in your relaxation space.
We're now exploring how we can 're-recycle' your unwanted mats! Our exciting initiative for re-purposing and re-using them is a must-read.
