Appreciate our earth and the Dreamtime with the authentic Indigenous 'Ginga Saltwater Crocodile' mat

Created by artist Dale Austin, this striking design in Black, Red and Yellow, featuring Australia's largest reptile, makes a huge visual impact. All of our Indigenous designs have been created with a story or meaning behind them and this design is no exception. Dale Austin draws from his culture's Dreamtime as the inspiration behind this design.

"In our culture, we believe that the world always existed, but long ago before the Dreamtime could be counted, it had no shape. The land was featureless without rivers or mountains and without life on it or in the oceans. There were no fish, grass, singing birds or trees. But lying below the surface, were creator spirits, waiting to make their way up for creation time.

During creation time, Ginga was first a man. One day while sleeping by the billabong in the dry grass. He was unaware of a fire approaching. As the fire became closer and closer, Ginga felt the warmth in his dream. Then with a gust of wind, the fire had leapt onto him. He jumped to his feet with the fire burning into his skin causing instant deformities all over his body. He ran as fast as he could to the water and jumped into the billabong. With the fire cooling and bubbling his skin became rough and scaley, it was at this point that then turned himself into Ginga.

Always aware, always around, but never seen as he did not want people to see his grotesque body," says Dale.

Crocodiles are the great survivors of their prehistoric ancestors. They are a representation of strength and resilience within the animal kingdom and play an important role in keeping waterways and aquatic ecosystems healthy. Celebrate Indigenous Australian Dreamtime and our native fauna by including this crocodile mat in your indoor or outdoor lifestyle.

This mat truly is the perfect outdoor adventure companion. Take it camping for a soft, comfortable floor inside your tent, or perhaps alongside your camper trailer to give you a little extra living space for meals and relaxing. Whilst you're here gearing up for your adventure, how about a doormat to keep the outdoors outside (the turf ones work extra well!). Our portable picnic tables are also a great addition to any setup. You can use them for so many things. They provide a flat usable surface anywhere you might need it - like somewhere to pop your marshmallows by the campfire, or maybe hold your glass whilst you tend to your BBQ.

As with most of the styles in our entire range of recycled plastic mats, this design is reversible. Not only does it extend the longevity of the mat, it effectively means two designs for the price of one! Our outdoor mats are also hard-wearing and easy to clean, and are made from UV-treated, tightly woven recycled plastics. We know that you LOVE doing the right thing for the planet, and you can rest easy knowing that this particular design has saved 2.5kg of plastic from landfill.  'How are your mats made?' we hear you cry! Check out our blog post to see how we save plastic bottles & shopping bags from entering landfill and turn them into something beautiful and practical.

We're now exploring how we can 're-recycle' your unwanted mats! Our exciting initiative for re-purposing and re-using them is a must-read.
