Aboriginal artist Wallamarra Elliot is behind this lively map motif. From Wiradjuri country, in central New South Wales, he is a visual artist, tattoo artist and proud dad. Tapping into his Indigenous heritage, Elliot has created an Australian map that showcases his community’s connection to the natural world, with footprints across the earth and symbols representing regional animals and sea creatures.
Nomad Aboriginal Mats
This handy set includes 2 mats in the blue & green colour scheme and 2 in the earthy orange & black design. Mix and match your colours - and don't forget these mats are reversible! These large size mats also come with eyelets so you can attach tie downs if using outdoors. Match them with educational games or sets of individual seating mats for engaging cultural teaching.
Our indoor/outdoor rugs are not only practical but make great multicultural resources for your classroom or library. Each of our rugs and runners has been designed by Indigenous artists, which means they are authentic designs and are culturally appropriate to be walked on or sat on. Why not turn teaching children about cultural symbols into a game? Toss a small bean bag onto a symbol then discuss what the image might represent! Designs can also be used to help direct children during games or for quiet time: ask each child to sit on their favourite symbol!
Schools, childcare centres and community groups love these colourful, practical, eco-friendly, multicultural resources that can stand up to active play. They’re totally versatile! Use them at story time, play time or meal time. Choose your value set of Aboriginal design classroom mats online today!

Care Instructions: All our floor mats have been made to the best attainable standards from UV treated recycled polypropylene. Follow our guide to mat maintenance for cleaning and storage instructions. Our floor mats and playmats are suitable for indoor and outdoor use but extensive exposure to sun or rain will lead to fading and deterioration over time. We make no assertions on the longevity of the product as there are too many variables including care, exposure to continuous direct sunlight, contact with abrasive cleaners etc.
Childcare centres and preschools: Please also note that although these floor and play mats are wonderful to use outside, we do not suggest that they are left outside in direct and permanent sun and rain full time due to high UV exposure
