The black cockatoo is a majestic, graceful bird, with a distinctive call. Some say they represent spirit & soul strengthening. Celebrate all things black cockatoo with this striking annex mat. You'll also be doing your bit for conservation too!
With generous proportions, the grey tones of this mat perfectly complement most modern caravans and camper trailers. These affordable camping mats make a practical boundary between creepy crawlies, little stones and sticks that may hurt exposed feet, yet sufficiently enable air to flow through the mat to help safeguard the ground underneath.
Like all indoor/outdoor rugs from Recycled Mats, this mat is easy to clean and care for. Made from recycled plastics, dirt, sand or food spills can be hosed away with ease and being naturally waterproof, it requires next to no drying time - a convenient advantage if the ground is wet or damp! When you're ready to go, simply fold the mat back up to its compact size and place it in its strong, zip-up, reusable carry bag, ready for next time. Pssst.. the included carry bag also has an extremely handy silver-insulated side pocket so there's plenty of room for more than just the mat! For your convenience, these camping mats also include 6 eyelets for tie-down purposes.
OUR PLEDGE - Recycled Mats pledges to donate 10% of the money raised from the sale of each Cockatoo Crackle mat to the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre. Our aim is to help with the rescue, rehabilitation and release of Western Australia’s injured black cockatoos back into the wild.
The Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre is the only facility in Australia dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of black cockatoos. It costs approximately $1,000 to release just one bird back into the wild and it's our goal to set a small flock free over time...please join us and become a part of this special project! In addition to these feel-good fuzzy vibes, each customer who orders one of these beautiful mats will get the chance to help us name the rehabilitated cockatoos we set free!
MAY 2023 UPDATE - The release of our very first rehabilitated birds, back in April last year was a time of huge excitement for us. 11 endangered 'Carnaby' black cockatoos were released back into the wild near an exisiting roost of 400-500 birds, 4 of which were funded by our 'Cockatoo Crackle' mats! Named and voted by you, 'Pearl', 'Jarrah', 'Calypso' & 'Karak' have now been free for over a year! Since then, thanks to you, we have been able to fund the rehabilitation and care of an additional 11 beautiful black cockatoos, with the remaining 3 yet to be released, so stay tuned! With over $15,000 donated to this amazing cause so far (and we're still going!) one of our staff members visited the sanctuary first hand, to see the amazing work being done. You can read all about our recent visit to Kaarakin here.
Did you know that over 50% of the birds at Kaarakin are the victims of motor vehicle strikes? Let's keep our eyes and ears open and help look after these majestic, native birds. With your help, Karaakin can continue their wonderful work and research - thank you from all of us!
