If you're someone who is drawn and attracted to the ocean and the sea, you're a thalassophile, and the Marine Life annex mat has been created for you
Our in-house artist Rachel said "When I was asked by JJ to design a mat for the seabirds and turtles, I was ecstatic! I love turtles and had pet turtles growing up. I also find seabirds and pelicans really fascinating and majestic. For this design I used inspiration from our riverways and the seashore; from pelicans perched on wooden pillars encrusted with barnacles to swimming turtles and flowing tides. I enjoyed this design project and love that Recycled Mats are helping support & rescue injured Australian seabirds & turtles."
This gorgeous annex mat is one of our larger mats so it offers plenty of room for the whole family to gather for meals and wind-down time. Ethically made with recycled materials, this mat is a must-have camping accessory for any outdoor enthusiast.
Like all of our recycled plastic outdoor mats, the Marine Life mat is reversible which will not only extend the life of your mat but effectively give you two looks for the price of one! These affordable camping mats also make a practical boundary between creepy crawlies, little stones and sticks that may hurt exposed feet, yet sufficiently enable air to flow through the mat to help safeguard the ground underneath.
Easy to care for, store and transport, being made from recycled plastic means that dirt, food and drink spillages can be easily hosed or swept off. In addition to that, all of our camping mats are UV resistant, include six eyelets for tie-down purposes, and come with a strong, recycled polyester carry bag which includes a handy silver-insulated side pocket, so there's plenty of room for more than just the mat. This mat is also available in another colour option.
OUR PLEDGE - Recycled Mats pledges to donate 10% of the money raised from the sale of each 'Marine Life' mat to the Australian Seabird & Turtle Rescue. Our aim is to help with the rescuing of seabirds, shorebirds, sea turtles and sea snakes in NSW.
Australian Seabird & Turtle Rescue Inc. (ASTR) was formed in 1992 when the late Lance Ferris discovered that 35% of Ballina’s pelicans were injured by fishing tackle. He discovered that pelicans in other major estuaries throughout NSW were suffering from the same fate. Now a volunteer organisation, ASR operates branches along the NSW coastline.
In 2004 the Lewis Foundation purchased the 5-acre pristine wetland property in Ballina which has been developed into a wildlife sanctuary (WildlifeLink). The sanctuary runs an operation and information centre where school and community groups attend tours and educational lectures, a hospital with intensive care facilities, turtle rehabilitation tanks, a specialist sea snake facility (being developed), bird aviaries and care facilities.

We're now exploring how we can 're-recycle' your unwanted mats! Our exciting initiative for re-purposing and re-using them is a must-read.
