If you love Indigenous designs and culture, this 1.8m square mat is for you, and provides a place to do exactly as its name suggests - 'Come Celebrate'!
Stylish, but with more meaning and story than any contemporary design, the 'Come Celebrate' mat was designed by respected Australian Aboriginal artist De Greer Yindimincarlie, of the Wiradjuri Nation in central New South Wales.
"Come and sit with me and tell me a yarn, let me celebrate your life with you. Celebrate all you have, all you’ve experienced, and let’s be grateful for all of it. So, come sit with me and tell me your yarn," says De.
Like all our recycled outdoor mats, it is soft and comfortable yet hard-wearing and easy to clean, making it ideal for high-traffic areas, but also messy play, picnics and days at the beach. Loose dirt just shakes off, or it can be hosed down for muckier uses! As one of our more compact mat designs, it is lightweight for folding or transporting, so it’s easily moved from a story corner to a shady spot for lunch. It can basically go wherever you do!
Being reversible, this design gives you two looks for the price of one and also extends the life of your mat. Many educators choose these cultural mats in conjunction with our selection of Aboriginal cushion covers to inject some more colour, culture and comfort. 'Come Celebrate' is also available in other colour options.
We're now exploring how we can 're-recycle' your unwanted mats! Our exciting initiative for re-purposing and re-using them is a must-read.
